Frequently
Asked Questions:
Did
you Know that...
One tree can filter up to 60 pounds of polluntants from the air each
year, and one ton of recycled paper saves 3,700 pounds of lumber as
well as 10,401 kilowats of electricity.
One ton of recycled
paper saves 24,000 gallons of water. Please help us conserve these valuable
resources and recycle all the paper materials you can.
Ask your city's waste
management office how you can recycle everything!

When did the Friends of El Cerrito Trees start?
The Friends of El Cerrito Trees started meeting
informally in 1999. Our members have come together over concern for
trees in our city. We feel that the city lacks trees and needs to better
care for the trees we have. Some members are outraged over the city's
tree pruning practices, others want to see the city plant trees, while
others are concerned with the lack of trees in city parks, still others
are concerned with the rights of trees on private property. We would
like to see an Urban Forest Plan implemented that would put annual tree
planting and proper care in the city's budget. Planting the right tree
in the right place to prevent problems in the future.
